Back at Scripps Memorial

I wish I could say it's just for a slumber party with all his pals from ICU, but...

Unfortunately, Jeff has been in an exorbitant amount of pain for over a week, and nothing has been working to ease it.  So, when he was unable to make his follow up appointment because he was in too much pain to transfer into the car, his neurosurgeon was alarmed since Jeff has had little pain through this entire experience.

Per doctor's orders, Jeff was admitted to Scripps Memorial La Jolla last night. They feel that they can manage his pain and find the underlying cause more effectively at the hospital.

His medical team is in the process of figuring out what is wrong.  They see some swelling in his spinal cord from the MRI, but other than that we don’t have much to go on.

He will see an infectious disease specialist sometime today, so hopefully we will know more by tomorrow morning – once they are done poking and prodding him.

We are hopeful that they will figure it out and come up with a plan sooner than later.

Jeff and Amanda appreciate your thoughts and prayers to help him through this difficult stretch.

ICU Visit

Stopped by the ICU yesterday to see and thank some of the amazing nurses that took care of me! Can't thank them enough!

OMG - Home Sweet Home, baby!

Jeff and Amanda packed up their things and headed out west to be a cowboy...oh wait!

Jeff and Amanda did pack up this morning and moved HOME! For good, yes, home sweet home.

We've all been busting at the seams to spill the beans, and now we did.

Last week, Jeff simply asked his occupational therapist what it might take for him to go home...say, Tuesday...and, the next thing you know all the wheels were turning.

Here it is Tuesday and they are home with the puppies and Moms and all is good.

Wish them well in this next chapter as everyone adapts to life at home.

Home Visits and Sunny Days

I'm in San Diego visiting Jeff - been here for a few days now. Now, let me tell you...the weather has been so welcoming - 80s and sunny. Wowzers!

Jeff is rocking and rolling...rolling all over the place, I tell you. He came home both weekend days and spent time visiting with Amanda, Mom, Jesse and me - well, really, he came to see the dogs, but we were here, too. You should see him go - up the ramp, down the back step to the patio.

Jesse flew in from Michigan and built this amazing floor-to-ceiling storage unit for the hallway. If you need something built, you'd better call this guy...just let me know and I'll give you his number.

The house is really coming together to accommodate Jeff and his chair. A lot of hard work by a lot of good people has really made a difference. There are so many challenges for Jeff every day that each and every little change or accommodation helps so much.

He is getting stronger and stronger, but the road ahead is long and full of obstacles. Amanda's focus on getting the things he needs is sharp - it's been so encouraging to watch her researching and finding items for everyday tasks.

Jeff and Amanda are so thankful for all your support. Keep your thoughts, prayers and help coming their way. There is still a lot to do.

Calling all Michigan Friends - Bowling March 24

Hey party peeps. Did you know Michigan is the state with the most bowlers per capita? OK, I made that up, but come on. Who doesn't enjoy a little bowling and beer? Besides what else do you have to do on a Saturday night at 8:30pm in March?

Contact Julie (that's Jeff's sister) at julie.kiser7@gmail.com and get yourself on the list. Better hurry. Bowlers are begging to get in on this event - seriously - you might miss out. Don't be that guy left standing outside in the sleet looking through the windows of the bowling alley wishing you were in there.
